About Prof. Çırpan
Prof. Dr. Ali Çırpan
Ali Cirpan obtained his B.S. in Chemistry (1998) followed by his M.S. (2000) and Ph.D. (2004) at Middle East Technical University (METU). He became interested in the field of electrochromism as a visiting graduate student with the Professor John Reynolds’ Research Laboratory at the University of Florida in 2002.
After finishing his PhD in 2004 with Professor Levent Toppare at METU, he joined the Professor Frank E Karasz research group as a Postdoctoral Associate, at the Department of Polymer Science and Engineering, University of Massachusetts, where he developed light emitting devices using new organic or inorganic materials for two and a half years.

Elif Demir Arabacı
Elif received her Ph.D. in Chemistry from Middle East Technical University (METU) in 2024 and currently works as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the same department. Her research focuses on the design, synthesis, and electrochemical characterization of conjugated polymers and small molecules for optoelectronic and electrochemical energy-storage applications. She has experience in electroanalytical and spectroscopic techniques, thin-film preparation, and complementary theoretical studies.

Meriç Çalışkan
Meriç joined Cirpan Research Group in 2017 when she was an undergraduate student. She carried out an undergraduate research project in this group on the syntheses of conjugated polymers for solar applications. She graduated from the Department of Chemistry in 2017. Currently, she is a Ph.D. student in the Cirpan Research Group.

Selin İlter
Selin graduated from the Department of Chemistry at METU in 2021 and completed her master’s degree in 2024. She joined Çırpan Research Group as a M.Sc. student in the same year. She is working on the synthesis of phenanthroimidazole based materials for OLED application.

Sevgi Aydın
Sevgi received her BS degree in Chemistry at Middle East Technical University. She started as an undergraduate student at Çırpan Research Group in 2021 and continued as a Master’s student. Graduated from M.Sc. in 2025 Her main research focuses on the synthesis of new conjugated polymers for application in photovoltaic devices.

Elif received her BS degree in Chemistry at Middle East Technical University. She then joined Cirpan Research Group in 2021 as an undergraduate student. Now she is a M.Sc. student under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ali Cirpan.

Bilge received her undergraduate degree from the Department of Chemistry at Middle East Technical University in January 2024. She joined the Cırpan Research Group in her senior year in the Department of Chemistry and is currently continuing her master’s degree in the MNT department.

Sedanur graduated from Middle East Technical University with a BS degree in chemistry. She began working at Çırpan Research Group in 2022 and she is currently a Masters Student there. Her primary research area of interest is synthesizing conjugated polymers for organic photovoltaic applications and supercapacitors.
